The last film I watched was Hallam Foe. I watched it on the SBS chanel (bahaha - a chanel great for foreign films!) and its a scottish movie. I quite enjoyed it though it a bit too much adult content for my liking. A bit of a creepy movie but it made me laugh ANND its got some amaaazzing scenery!! it also had a sweet soundtrack including Franz Ferdinand. Uhh, and thats my scrappy little review for that movie.

It's the first show I've seen about drug use (minus Intervention, of course, which is just fucking disgusting) that seems to capture the drug-using milieu. There are a lot of shows that focus more on the criminal element (The Wire) or shows that glorify it (Weeds, which, despite Mary Louise-Parker's fine acting, is essentially soft-core porn for middle-aged women -- it was cute until around the end of the first season), but no others that I know of that show just how emotionally ugly it is. That's not the reason I watch it, however. The reason I watch it is that the writing is the best on any newer TV show I've encountered in a couple years (it's really nice to have writers pay attention to things like character motivation and be unafraid to write intelligently and subtly. More impressive to me than that, though, is the unforced, plausible, and creative character and plot development) and that the acting is really good, even down to actors in minor roles.
