  • holy crap! this is like the holy grail? ... why NOW?! why not 6 years ago or 4 years ago? that's so damn random... can't wait to hear this [esp. slippi! oh man?] but i won't expect too much because i know how muddled some of that early era stuff can be! but man i love too soon / native belle / slippy! ... two sails is a bit munch! ... and we've had enough of hey light! and the infinite dressing tables! <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< --> thanks!
  • all i'll say for now is the ICE CREAM outro to slippi is as amusing as it is AMAZING oh man
  • Yeah this shit is epic...get really high and do nitrous to this one for sure. Their early live stuff is perfect for listening while out of your mind.
  • can't say i approve of THAT! <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< -->
  • Well if they're out of their mind back then how can you even get in that head space without being out of your mind haha? Animal collective wouldn't be here without drugs so I think everyone should give a big thanks to psychedelics, dissociates, amphetamines, and opiates by taking them and listening to the music how it was original made to be listened to.
  • uhhh no thanks
  • I would have to strongly disagree with that.

  • I like the cut of your jib, Dave, and I agree completely. Tack on MDMA to your list and that's about the extent of what I've taken while listening to Animal Collective, but the majority of the time my ears are entirely sober. I don't think drugs are at all necessary to enjoy Animal Collective, and by extension any musical talent. It's certainly an altered (often enhanced) experience when doing so, but so far from essential. To me, Animal Collective themselves are drugs. Dancing is drugs. Forget the "high on life" stuff and realize that you can transcend your normal state of being just by shutting out the daily noise and blasting some AC in your car. It's that simple and it's profoundly fucking awesome. Also nitrous is awful. Just terrible, really. Don't do that shit.
  • Hey i didn't mean do all those drugs to animal collective but in music in general. And the places you go sober why listening to ac is nothing compared to when your high...you still go places but not as far and wide. Music and drugs go together and that's the way it is. You guys seriously think ac would still be here without drugs...thats bullshit. The got where they were from how they started and they started on drugs. Every weird band you guys listen too started on drugs and that's the way it is. Its just funny so many people listen to ac or any other crazy weird band and don't even get the whole picture. Drugs are a key to your mind and you can't let the world make it not. Material things don't matter so why waste your live trying to get them. Everything is inside of you so why don't you go get high, think about some crazy shit, and turn it into something newwwwww! hahahahahaah
  • Zappa made some very weird music and he was a anti drug dude

  • I know that I don't need drugs either but i still do them. You get that from tripping one time. That doesn't mean you should stop them and bring back those barriers. But hey i don't know you and I can't say anything. Whatever makes you happy, makes you happy but the barriers do come back after a while, thats all im saying.its just so many people now haven't even broke those barriers before or never will so by just seeing words its hard not to judge. All in all animal collective is super amazing and I enjoy it as much high as i do sober. Its all in the moment and its pretty much the same thing.
  • Couldn't have said it better, Dave Dave.

    Treeman, you ought to get some help, dumb motherfucker.
  • no man i agree with what you are saying completely, i didn't see there was a second page so let me just remove my foot from my mouth. I just think that overall if anyone wants to talk about drugs keep it in the drugs thread
  • No doubt, this thread went way off topic. My bad.
  • EARLY LIVE SLIPPI ICE CREAM OUTRO! <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< --> so good! you know... overall i feel a bit similar listening to this boot (which literally fans have been waiting for hardcore since 2005 or whatnot... WHY NOW?!!! why!!!! and not nearly as much reaction as one would expect!) ... i feel about the same as i do with ARK... where it surely is of interest but the magik of the final indian product cannot be beat! ... a curious thing but not too much more! i thought in some ways they'd be a bit more developed or WILD sounding [usually pre album the live songs are much more ragey / oomphy!] ... and sails in the damn sound i mean just shoving such a droney meander-y THING right smack in the middle i don't know! ... such a strange time for the band! ... the danse / holland / indian era shows! ... and the fact that after all that they go to just 2 men and their acoustic guitars!
  • Ice Cream!!! i think ark is great just for the version of native bell without any lyrics but hey, thats just me. it was a good live show, but that damn girl talking and laughing during too soon really got under my skin, why are you talking at a show?
  • because yr there to be SCENE! not heard! <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< -->
  • Whoa, would love to hear this. Think link is dead. Help?
  • Collected Animals > Live Discussion > All Live Recordings thread, if memory serves.
  • There may also be an individual thread on the forum for that recording.
  • this band makes me feel autistic
  • couldnt get link to work
  • *artistic
  • Man, imagine a studio version of Ice Cream Factory, such a great song, it's got that really nostalgic feel that's all over my favorite AC songs but I guess it wouldn't have really fit well on HCTI anyway. I kind of expected this boot to be a bit more chaotic though, because that's what this era was all about, Slippi and Native Belle seem really toned down compared with the studio versions.
  • yes! that shocked me too! studio ice cream could have been a perfect slippi single b-side! shoulda done that! man imagine a here comes the indian BOOT that you PUT on yr FOOT! and stomp ALL around the town!
  • native belly american indian / engine booties shorts + SKORTS
