Orlando Show Report (7/7 @ Beacham)

edited July 2011 in Reverb
Edited from need tix to this (reposted from what I wrote at CA): Was right up front for this show... Big guy with long hair in a really bright tie dye, stage right, in case anyone I met posts here. There was this great moment right at the beginning of Brother Sport (I don't think a lot of people recognized it yet) while the maraca kinda rhythm sample started when Avey and I locked eyes for several seconds right before he sat down to his keyboard. I had this huge, toothy grin on my face, and in retrospect I probably looked a little maniacal, but we locked eyes and he had this look on his face like he didn't know what to make of my expression. In the unlikely event that he reads this, and to inform all of you what it was, it was excitement and joy. Anyway, awesome show. They really picked up steam with Did You See The Words. During Brothersport and Summertime Clothes it felt like the entire place was rising up. Absolutely terrific. One of the best concerts I've ever attended. Further edit: Final encore was the live rarity, "Taste". Got to hear both my favorite songs from MPP (Taste and Brothersport)! Also, the tour shirt is really cool looking.

  • That T-shirt is too cool. My girlfriend picked on up, we turn around, and Deacon and Avey were just chillin! Most of the folks at our show (Mr. Smalls) were younger, probably teens, and a lot really didn't know too much about the band members themselves (if I had a dollar for every time I heard someone talk about "the new guy" after the show, I'd have a hell of a lot more money than I do now lol) so only a few people were talking to them. We went up and Deacon signed her shirt and drew a doodle on it. We didn't get Avey, though. We walked up right before they were going to go backstage to get ready for the show. I bet it was really surreal for them, though... just standing in the crowd of a sold out show with maybe 8 people actually recognizing them lol
  • That shirt is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.
  • I purchased a shirt at Mr. Small's, too. The shirts are so sweet. My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to meet and shake both Avey's and Deakin's hand. They were both so laid back, approachable, and nice. My girlfriend explained that the entire reason we met each other was because of their music, which seemed to make them pretty happy. I reallllly hope they come back to Pittsburgh. The crowd was full of energy, and so was the music. The show was absolutely fantastic, surreal, and exhilarating. I'm really looking forward to the release of the new music!
