The Antlers

  • Anyone like the Antlers? I had read a Pitchfork review (how I love and hate you, fair Pitchfork!) saying Hospice is amazing and yes, Hospice is amazing.

I just KNOW that this is a record I'm going to love. In fact, after skimming through the songs I'm saving both Hospice and Burst Apart for when I can listen to them all at once, without interruption (read: summer)

  • I've listened to Burst Apart quite a bit, not much of Hospice. I listened to a few songs of it on youtube, but I didn't like it as much as Burst Apart, I think because of the lack of electronic influence.

I like the Antlers, I don't think they're amazing though, like some think. They're a decent, passionate listen that is nice for peaceful evenings.
  • I agree with Claude too, on Burst Apart that is. I found it too mellow for me on most nights but sometimes I can appreciate the softness of the album. As for Hospice, the message and mood of the album make it a very good album in my opinion. I however, really want to hear what a third alnum by them will sound like, since the first two gave me totally different vibes.
  • i agree with both of you. Listening to this makes me a pretty sad panda, but its the mellowness that clings me to this album. Really gets me thinking, there's a lot of passion and emotion in songs like Bear, and Sylvia. i luh dis shit.
  • So, I listened to Hospice. It was the first album I really listened to straight-through, one song after the other, no skipping or speeding up. And it was a good choice.

It's rocketed into my top five albums. The emotions it manages to create are incredible, and the lyrics of the album overall are some of the best I've ever heard.

    I am humbled.
