• Good choice.
• HEEEEEEYYY I GOT PEOPLE ON VINYL YESTERDAY! huzzah!
• Oh, lucky. I think I'm going to try my luck on eBay one of these days and get the fireworks single they have on there. It's relatively cheap.
•
HEEEEEEYYY I GOT PEOPLE ON VINYL YESTERDAY! huzzah!
CONGRATS! I'm slightly jealous but very happy for you! I love that EP.
• It was a nice find, when I brought it up to the counter the girl was like: "woah, I JUST put this on the shelf an hour ago." SNIPE!
• I'm having a really hard time not spending money on Vinyl. I often browse the internet, go to cash out and just say 'no! i can't do this. its too much money on something I don't need.' Its so hard! I so want the Siberian Breaks single with one etched side and the limited edition Julian Casablancas 11th Dimensions single with a live track and Long Island Blues. is 25 dollars too much for those? No way! A fair price considering i'd have them shipped from the UK. But I just can't bring myself to do it.
• I'm starting to think I need to get myself I record player..
• I've been looking for a record with an eye on the cover -- I've got Mr Bungle's "Disco Volante" on framed and in my office, and would like to have a sort of 'companion' album framed on that wall -- so that there's a pair of eyes on the wall. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of going with Einzturzende Neubaten's "Ende Neu" but can't find it for a decent price in the US (ie, 20 or less -- especially since all i really care about is the cover).
• I can't think of any albums that have eyes as album art. good luck on your mission because that would be pretty sweet. So guys. I've gone record crazy lately. Not only did I preorder False Priest but I checked out Polyvinyl's annual garage sale and bought seven records/cds for eleven bucks. Some of them don't have covers and the ones with covers aren't mint condition but eleven dollars for that much music? Golden! If you guys want to check it out its http://www.polyvinylrecords.com/store/i ... ?listID=40 . Its a good way to check out some of those bands too because you can buy CD's for 25 cents. And then...I did it guys, I bought the Julian Casblancas 11th dimension 7" in red vinyl with the live version on the other side. The Record Day release. And then I bought MGMT's Record Store Day release which is a Siberian Breaks 7" in blue marbled vinyl and the other side is an etched design. I got them both from Rough Trades and even though it's being sent from England its way cheaper than if I was to buy either of them from Amazon. now I need to try and not spend money. and then comes the Ween concert next weekend and we're going to stop by at the local record store's warehouse. I'll need to try and keep myself under control.
• Vinyl is amazing, I love it.
• I got to know Animal Collective by the Merriweather album cover. I was working at a record store and when it came in i had to get it. Later I also ordered and got Strawberry Jam on double LP. Its much better than the CDs if you ask me.
• Today, I picked up the Congratulations limited edition LP with the lithograph cover, an original Imagine by John Lennon and Pink Floyd's The Wall. All around good purchase day.
• ^ That's awesome, (if you mean what I think you mean - lithograph = scratch off cover?) I have the scratch off cover CD edition which is pretty cool in itself, I saw the vinyl at the record store the other day and my mind was kind of blown. Idk why really it's just that it took enough time to scratch it off on the tiny CD but on a massive case, wow. The scratch off CD came with a coin, does the LP too? I don't really have many of my own just cheap 'indie' 7"s from the local record store and only my dad has a record player anyway so although I would love to buy more it's too much of an expense I'd rather spend on shows. My dad does have some pretty cool records though, the original 'Pretty Vacant' single from the Sex Pistols (never really cared for them, I'm more of a Clash kind of girl but thought it was awesome regardless).
• It took forever to scratch off that stupid cover, and it didn't even come with a coin! And then the slip covers for the records wouldn't fit in the sleeve (honestly why would they put 2 records in a sleeve that is meant for one record? That seems completely ridiculous). Much more of a hassle than they seem to be.
• I got the scratch of Congratulations as well. Why was there no coin? That sucks! : (

I wouldn't scratch it just because...well...that's a hard decision to make! WHat if I regreted it one day? I have some records to post here to show y'all. Just wait and see.

I wonder how much control artists have over the design of the album/sleeve/LP/merch etc. or how many decisions are made without their direct approval. Like with the Spirit/Danse reissue, I wonder if AC wanted it to be packaged as a two disc kind of affair or for it to even be reissued at all. The guys don't seem like they care a whole about album artwork kind of stuff, not in a bad way just that they don't seem to care that much about image. I also wonder if you get more control over these kind of things with independent labels? So many questions!

So many questions!
Actually most bands organise their own artwork and merch, albeit with approval of the people high up (half the time, the band does management as well and there is only a middle person with the label folk). With independent labels there still needs to be some level of satisfaction from the label side, but there is a bit more... respect and, generally, a more welcome attitude towards the weirder stuff. And I think the Strawberry Jam and Merriweather LPs had the art and sleeve well reflecting the music?
• Avey actually made the art for Strawberry jam, if i'm not mistaken.
• Yeah I think it was his photograph. I don't mean that it's not good I just remember reading in some interview Geo said that Avey e-mailed him as picture of the Fall Be Kind artwork and that was kind of that. All the artwork is great! I think the MPP artwork is proabably best because I can show it to anyone and they'll almost always think it's cool because of the optical illusion.
• I just picked up discipline, my favorite king crimson album, on vinyl last night. I was so happy to find it that I kissed it. Now I have all the more reason to get at least one of my three record players fixed!
• yay! I've gotten a mass pile of records since i last posted here and have quite a few to come in the mail too. I can never have enough vinyl.
• I'm Sitting in my room listening to Penny Dreadfuls from my newly bought Spirit vinyl, and i must say the song sounds better than ever!
• oh man! Spirit on vinyl! That was such a special experience for me, knitting and listening to it in the dark as I sat on the floor. It made it my favorite AC album.
• i don't want to get all into getting everything AC on vinyl so i just have a few! DANSE (!!!) / StrawJamb... and the rabbit 7inchert! that's it! i wish i had INJUN (there goes the!) on Vine Hell but my sister gave it to me on CD so it'd feel weird to get it again but i don't know stranger things can happen!
