I Emailed FatCat Records asking if they would add this site to their related links on the Animal Collective page, and probably replace Rerz.net. They Emailed me back saying they did, all they want in return is that you add a link to http://www.fat-cat.co.uk/ or http://fat-cat.co.uk/fatcat/artistInfo.php?id=53
Well, it worked since now it's on the site :) that's pretty cool, I never bothered doing that, although Domino added this site on its own a few months ago. I wonder if there'll be any takers then :P
I registered a few seconds ago. This website deserves more attention and this community way more members. I'm from germany and was really impressed when i found this place. Im going to promote this thing at some german message boards and will tell my friends about it. Maybe you should think about the option to force people to register when they want to download the stuff in the "get" section. Because there are some awesome recordings a lot of people would like to get i guess and this could be their reason to register here and maybe to start hanging around and posting. Sorry for my bad english, I'm a little sleepy and wasn't in the mood to think about what I was writing so long. Best wishes, hope to read you more often soon. Simon
I wonder where all the former Collected Animals message board traffic went. I went to the Radiohead message boards when it died, but I ran across this site trying to find accurate lyrics for brother sport. Looks nice, hopefully this new album will bring in the masses.
But the new question on the registration is a sort of fill in the blanks, just so that people register from now on, I hope that will keep bots out; we haven't had one since I added it.
try as i'd like i can't help posting on the big one (AKKA) just because i was there pretty much from the begin in 2005... but try as i might i can never truly get into that one... here i keep waiting to truly go nuts making threads but that day has not arrived....yet
well, first off its an awesome site man you've done well
im from australia and AC are reasonably well known among the alt music community. if you want global promotion then a good thing to do would be to appoint one person from each country - for as many as you can get - to just get the word out in their communities about it. local music mags, radio stations etc. this way you could also keep up to date with gigs around the world and post them accurately. for now try doing it the good ol' mass communicative way by posting the site every week or so onto the AC facebook, myspace and twitter sites. might sound silly but it took me ages to find this site and i was so glad when i did. its a great way for animal fans to appreciate their awesomeness together
on this note i just want to say how PISSED i am that they have just announced a show in my city for their first aust tour and im going to be out of the freaking country a week before they play. it hurts...like a hot spoon gouging out my eyeball. if anyone knows where they are touring around june next year id love to know since i may end up heading overseas just to watch them play four or five gigs. thanks a bundle,
i always wish i could hang out with them... drink some beers and jam out some little music... just a fantasy! ... you get so into a band and their music you feel like yr worthy of being instant-friends!
i would totally be down to help out around here, if your willing. i come here often when CA gets too heavy with negativity and the lack of updates, while understand able, can be fixed with a little extra assistance when you can't get around to it. if not, its cool i just figured i'd offer my help.
I'm with nakedmoniker on this one. When you google animal collective this place is the third website that comes up. The only thing is, people come here and see that this is dead. As soon as they go to the front page they see that the news is seriously out dated and it probably shies them away. This site has a lot of potential, we could get in on wikipedia (i practically write all the animal collective news on it) and get it updated and you could make some serious grass haha i'm listening to it right now. Anyway, I'm driftin off here. I could help this place out alot I have aloooot of down time at my work and i steal internet from the store next to me so i could put some time into this right here. fuck, i'll even buy this site and fix it up a little bit. Our animal collective are about to huge i can feel it.
Grace/What would i want sky/My girls/ Fireworks. Minus the clapping this is perfect.
Extremely good quality (watch it with some nice headphones. preferably not laptop headphones haha i listened to it first with laptop speakers and then Bose headphones, HUGE difference peeps)
Being what I'm sure is the only teen on this site, I'd be happy to help promote a bit. I'll see who I can get to come check this out, seeing as how CA is getting to be a bit radiculous. Hateradio -- I love the layout! It's really creative and I am ever thankful for the discography and lyrics. My iTunes would be lost without this place.
only teen? AC is LOVED by the Kids these days! ... i mean even in 2005 they had 15 year old fans (it's CRAZY!)
with ac . net board gone and AKKA just really shitty with filth i think this place could be the alternative (is there another ac board out there at all even as big as this one? or ANY other? weird...)
Shocker: I happen to be 14. Dunn dunn dunn! But anyways, you're going to have to introduce me to some of these AC crazed teens someday, cause where I come from, I'm an indangered species. So to speak.
way back when i was in high school i had trouble finding even people who liked bands as big as radiohead! ... so i can't even imagine what it'd be like to be into some more out there stuff at so young an age (always hoping shows are all ages and the like!) ... i think the internet age truly changes things... now it is expected everyone is online to some degree and being into a band like radiohead at 13/14 could easily be a gateway to getting into stuff damn early... i just wonder how it will be in the future... i guess 12/13 is about the cut-off... very rarely do you see anyone 13 or under on these message boards or whatnot
my generation makes me sad. did you know that yesterday I talked to someone in my class who didn't know who Depeche Mode or Nirvanna were? I only have one friend that is into AC, but not nearly as much as I am (she's sticking to MPP). I just recently started getting into Spirit and Danse Manatee and such, and what a wonderful experience it's been! Nothing has ever made me want a record player more in my life....
depeche mode MAYBE you could understand... though not ever hearing enjoy the silence or personal jesus? ... but nirvana i find damn hard to believe! ... i mean come on! ... man in a day and or age when 14 year old girls like AC... it's so weird to me... i don't know what to think! ... same when you'd see 14-16 year old female fans of xiu xiu... just odd as all hell!
good luck with danse manatee! ... i hope you (unlike even some big-time animal fangs) can find the goodness in it! ... beyond just essplode...
Since I happen to be listening to the albums peice by peice via google searches, I will try as hard as I can to find that song, thanks for advice and all on my situation.
I don't think I could live without Enjoy The Silence or People Are People, and as for the Nirvana situation, it escapes me how anyone could be born in the nineties and not know who they are.
But I digress.
Hoping for all-ages shows isn't even the biggest problem. The biggest problem is living in Mid-Western Canada. I don't blame them for not coming here, I wouldn't either. But I have sweet 16 hopes for a ticket to Vancouver and an AC concert. I've been dying to meet them in the flesh!
being the newest member, I must agree that I felt sad when I realized how un-active the boards are lately. I'll try and spread it around I suppose, considering this is one of the best AC sites around...hrmmm.
i still think the main draw is how Collected Animals has been run amok for quite some time by some really lame people... just this kinda faux-cynical jaded attitude with lame humour...
a LOT feel this way [that AC fangs are among the worst!] and based on that board you'd have a good case
it wasn't always that way
this place would be such a nice alternative...
if only more would walk among us!
i haven't done nearly enough promotion on the main board i post on [AtEase - Radiohead] ... i don't know though i don't want this to turn into AKKA 2.0 but i don't want it to be ..> DEAD!
It is hard to update the site, since I'm only one person and I don't really follow AC that closely, so I don't write on recent articles or shows that they do.
I could let someone be a news writer, but since I really don't know anyone there's a level of trust that I haven't been able to meet. However, if there are any people who write news at other sites, and would like to do so here as well, just show me and I'll think about it.
During this week I have Thx Givin' off so I'm going to update the site a bit here and there. I've already changed some of the code on the Collectography (though users won't be able to notice it yet) and I'll continue on to the Lyrics. Right now I'm working on getting newer shows that I haven't put up and after that we'll see what else.
I'll be using the forum as a registration hub, so that people that want to edit the pages (lyrics mainly) will be able to do so ... if they're a mod, which I haven't decided on since it's hard to say.
i'm just happy as hell that in my 2nd year of being on here (!) we actually have what looks like at least 4 or 5 people who will stay and post a bit... hopefully they don't give up when the going gets rough and even more join!
it was a tough first year staying on here with it so quiet (but i liked that too in a weird warped way) but i'm happy it's SLOWLY starting to pick up...
