Tomboy

edited April 2011 in Side Projects
Since we don't have an official thread for this album, which is pretty slack!! I mean, we have versions like 'Panda's new stuff is pretty spiffy' there's a download available around the internet of the ten live tracks that he played of all new material. The only one that isn't new is daily routine. I've listened to some of it, pretty exciting. I really can't wait for this to come around this year!!

• http://altreport.hipsterrunoff.com/2010/03/panda-bear-adds-guitar-to-his-live-performance.html/comment-page-1#comment-99754 they think its exciting that he's playing the guitar too! Maybe it is? Someone said he's been doing it for a while, but I wouldn't post this link if it wasn't for the video anyways.
Will Panda Bear’s addition of the guitar help him ‘crossover’ into the mainstream?
that quote is a perfect example of the lack of journalism in this article. I'm sure Panda's worried about making it in the 'mainstream'. They did mention Washed Out though, which makes me feel like I really need to check them out (after seeing them here too).
• and then there's this. After this I promise i'll stop posting news, but I decided to do some Panda research today and this is the place to share it, right? http://www.state.ie/2010/03/live-reviews/panda-bear-vicar-st-dublin/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+StateMagazine+%28State+Magazine%29 now the article itself isn't that interesting, but if you read all the comments, it makes me pretty sad. Literally everyone that comments really dislikes Panda and AniCo's live shows. oh yeah, Tomboy's scheduled for a September release.
• Semptember seems like such a long time. But I bet it will arrive quicker than we know it. The years seem to be getting shorter and shorter don't you think? Check out Washed Out!! He's got brilliant stuff, specially the first few songs on his myspace (I think their off his latest).
that quote is a perfect example of the lack of journalism in this article. I'm sure Panda's worried about making it in the 'mainstream'.
I didn't know that was really right, but I mean, if I were Panda I would like my music to stay underground too where people really appriciate it. Thinking about what I've heard about his personality and style he seems like the sort of person to not want to go really big (like how hes not touring with ODDSAC and moved to Libson where its laid back and had a family..) As long as us sort of fans are always there for him I'm sure it won't go to his head too much. I haven't head much of the Tomboy stuff. But I saw that vid of him playing Daily Routine then it started on to a bit of a new song and that sounded reaallyy good!
• whoops! That was a typing mistake on my part, I meant to say 'i'm sure Panda's not too worried about making it mainstream'. I feel the same way as you. If you're interested I can hunt down the mediafire of the set for you. The new stuff is really cool, and i'm sure September will be upon us before we know it!
• MARDI GRAS ANYONE?
• I really laughed out loud! Fabulous!
• I don't think Noah really likes his photo taken.
• But I like his photo taken. Therefore it shall never come to a halt.
• he's a lil' camera shy. maybe he should have an animated panda that he uses as his "visual." like the gorillaz!
• That's beautiful. It's waving at me!
• he's saying "HEY-OOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
• I was reading somewhere in a magazine, Filter I think, that TOMBOY was going to be a lot more guitar-oriented, which is pretty exciting compared the sample heavy stuff
• awesome, that makes me very excited too! Panda doing guitar is going to be great, I bet. Was there an article in the magazine or just a little snippet?
• it was just a preview of upcoming albums for 2010, just a little snippet, the cover has beck on it if you wanna check it out
• cool, thanks! I'm always looking for interesting magazines to read. I'm so anxious for TOMBOY!
• Me too! I can't wait to buy it, and kick back, and listen. I wonder what the sound theme is going to be for this one...
• Is it September yet?
• no
• Found a new song off TOMOBOY (I'm guessing they're really digging all caps lately). It sounds totally new (the entire show was new material)
• awesome, i really liked the screen in back of him towards the end of the song
• I don't know if this warrants a whole new thread so I'll just post it here, http://tinyurl.com/247h9t4: ------------------------------------- "Paw Tracks is excited to present the first in a series of limited edition seven inch singles by Animal Collective's Panda Bear. There will be several limited singles total (on different labels), and each one will bring us closer and closer to the much anticipated release of the Tomboy full length." According to Amazon, the first single from Panda Bear's TOMBOY is due July 13 on Paw Tracks. The single features the title track, backed with "Slow Motion." In other new release news, the Arcade Fire's new single, Suburbs/Month of May, is due in two weeks. ------------------------------------ Yay!
• WOW! Thanks for sharing. Boy would I love to buy that.
• I know right?! Sucks, my bank card hasn't come yet and I bet this will sell out pretty fast.
• how much is it, do you know off the top of your head? also; your profile picture reminds me of the album art for The Mollusk, which is this crazy underwater picture. I mean, I know it's a girl there, but when I just scroll down the page, it seems just like the mollusk.
• OMG NEW ARCADE FIRE SINGLE Of course I'm excited about Panda but...
• Hmm, Amazon says around $5 so I guess I could ask someone else to help me out. Thanks about my picture I guess, haha, I looked it up and the colouring in the background is really similar so I can see how it would look like that.
• 5 bucks? That's not bad. I might just have to get that. Thanks!
• $5!? Is that normal? How much aussie dollars would that be? Not much ay cause the australian dollar has been quite close to the US dollar recently.. by 7 inch do they mean vinyl?
• I think it's just for the single, not the whole album. Still a very cheap purchase, though!
• Whoaaa, vinyl for only $5? Sure it's only a single, but still...vinyl is an expensive material, isn't it?
• I saw that it said it's gonna include the title track from TOMBOY and a b-side. I'm so pumped for this and Arcade Fire
• I just preordered the Tomboy single. It will arrive in the mail July 19th. I'm so glad I have a job! I also ordered Water Curses vinyl for myself and a Flight of the Concords vinyl for my cousin for her birthday!
•
I just preordered the Tomboy single. It will arrive in the mail July 19th. I'm so glad I have a job!
What site? Is it cd or vinyl?
• Amazon.com, its the vinyl. I think the singles are only being released on vinyl, though I maybe mistaken!
• I've found Panda stuff from live shows across Europe (darn his love for Portugal). I don't know if this stuff'll be on the album or not, so watch at your own risk. And for those who saw ODDSAC, check out the Danny Perez visuals in his shows. They're sick! m -->
• pretty cool, i'm really excited for the new Panda stuff now, September is too far away!!
• does anyone have a copy of the concert in January that Panda played and it was all new material? the De Kreun one? Its ten songs, though none named Tomboy so the line-up and all if it will certainly change before the album is released. But, I have it, and could try and find a way to get it to the rest of you if anyone is interested...
• i would love to hear that concert.
• i'm going to track down where I got it from and come back here and put it on this post. So keep an eye out. http://www.bansheebeat.com/ac/Panda B ... 7.01.2010/ I actually got this link from someone at Collected Animals. The version I have is different. I downloaded it as one album instead of the individual songs and the titles were different. The person at Collected Animals actually recorded this, so props to them. I hope they don't mind me sharing the Panda Love. http://animalcollectin.6.forumer.com/vi ... 46746d9b96 that's the original post that it is from if anyone is interested.
• Can anyone help me out? I haven't been very good with watching bootlegs but I saw this video of Panda performing at ATP (this year not last year's where in NY where he also performed with AC) and I absolutely love these tracks but I don't know what they're called. I've downloaded a boot but I still not sure so if any of you guys knew it would be awesome.
• Wow am I complete idiot or what? The boot I downloaded with no proper titles is the same as the one we tigers posted up there where the proper titles are.
