• is Collected Animals the creepy guy in the back?
• I far from understand what is going on right now...
• CA is always the creepy guy in the back... And G.O., that's a long pregnancy for her...
• well sometimes you just wanna take things SLOW... you know? life glows fast and it's hard to make the good times last!
• I hope Geo's baby is born with a beard.
• that picture is absolutely incredible, TT. THanks for sharing it!
•
According to the article, Geo has a kid. What?! Wow. Next to go is Avey, I guess. I wonder if Deaks will be a bachelor forever?
Not if I can help it. Meow
• WOOHOO I just found out bout this lol, Finally a Avey Tare solo record, should be good. I dont really care what the style is it's gonna be great i'm sure no matter what.
•

According to the article, Geo has a kid. What?! Wow. Next to go is Avey, I guess. I wonder if Deaks will be a bachelor forever?
Not if I can help it. Meow
lololol
• I lol'd, Maps.
• Soon they'll be able to form Animal Collective Juniors. *shudders* Ok maybe not.
•
Soon they'll be able to form Animal Collective Juniors. *shudders* Ok maybe not.
lol that would be interesting
• Like muppet babies? They'd make music in their nursery with toy instruments, singing through paper towel tubes. There'd be a bearded baby Geo on a circuit-bent speak'n'spell in the corner. They'd set up a bunch of those kiddie tape recorders around the room, to record the ambiance and natural reverd of the nursery environment. ..or were the muppet babies supposed to be the muppets AS babies? Either way, somebody please photoshop this
• haha, this sounds awesome.
• what is avey holding in his arm? (The pic with the croc mask)
• ^^ I'm not sure, maybe the others know. It looks a bit like a cassette player..
• yeah its some sort of musical device used for the musical things. no offense to panda but im way more excited for avey tares new album than any other release coming along. I can tell its going to be weird and I am a very weird little kid at this point in my life. I hope he makes this retarded bedroom noise that i anticipate
• I'm more excited for Avey's because I have no idea what its going to sound like where as for Panda we've had a nice little sneak preview. I have faith in Panda though, he's going to give Avey a run for his money (though i'm sure this is no compitition between the two of them). Panda's songs have never stood alone strongly for me, but as an entire album they are amazing. I just really can't wait to see what Avey's sounds like! Especially after seeing ODDSAC!
• Its so hard to say which one I am most looking forward to. I haven't put that much thought into that. I'm a huge fan of Pandas vocals (they're soooo beautiful!!) and Avey writes awesome lyrics. But thinking back to Crumbling Land, I didn't really feel too majorly interested in that album. I reckon Down There is going to take a different direction to CL though, I've got a feeling (which there being more tracks and such) - but whatever both of them release I am really looking forward to it!
• Crumbling land was only one song though right?
• Nope, it was 5. The World Brushed Aside - 10:05 Theme From Horzontial Technicolour - 4:01 Crumbling Land - 2:02 Misused Barber - 3:01 Abyss Song (Abby's Song) - 13:35 Have you not heard them all? Should be a torrent somewhere (I don't know if you can buy this one in stores....)
• Wooahh Dang! I need to get on that. I thought it was one song he had on like a compilation disc.
• it was a split series... the first 2 tracks aren't avey they're some grubby guy! crumbling land was the hit song! feelin like a werewolf! the other 2 tracks are pretty cool too ... but the pop sense or abilities of crumbly gland cannot be denied... the ultra overlong clicky intro, the thumpy twinkly twinkles, the backing vox THE VOICE! many things...
• i am very, very excited to hear what avey comes up with this time. from the pitchfork interview it seems like it's going to be dark... hmmm and according to that interview panda ain't even done recording yet...
• I can't find a torrent anywherez i found this one http://btjunkie.org/torrent/Various-Art ... 78b76e1783 but it seems like it only has the crumbling land and not the other two songs. -.-

• yay, very exciting news! Can't wait to hear it. This year is a great year when it comes to the AC gang
• Never mind that link, all the files are corrupt. Here, hopefully this one works better: http://www.mediafire.com/?dx04qly2zud
• thanks!!
• The Crumbling King / Lord in charge of his Crumbling Land! if only! imagine seeing avey tare... DOWN THERE uh!
• I wonder why he chose such a title. What would it even mean (besides the dirty defintion both you G.O. and Shinsy have pointed out (I think it was Shinsy anyway))? It'll probably make more sense when we hear the songs..
• In the interview I think it said he was referring to South America/hell?
• No probs Deadfly! Yeah, he says he thinks hell is like a swampy abyss typed thing, so that's what down there means.
• "Down There" definitely just means underneath the water. Lurking in the swamps, etc. I bet it sounds like the first section of "Safer"... The creatures all know that it's safer in the dark...
•
I guess I'm trying to get it out there that it's really swamp-influenced. Kind of like a haunted swamp, I envisioned. Or hell. In a way, hell is a swamp, to me-- not as something fiery, but as something dank, moist, and wet.

But calling [the record] Down There, there's a lot of reasons for calling it that but one thing that comes to mind is the fact that I went down to Peru and it's kind of the Southern hemisphere down there. That ties into it a little bit.
it definitely references the Southern Hemisphere or hell. It doesn't 'just mean' anything though you are certainly right in that it kind of references lurking in the swamps since he's got a lot of crocidle shit going on with this.
• Yea, kinda like that. I think that's a synth maybe? a radio? idk
• (I saw your avatar and I think I want to watch Cowboy Bebop now cause there's a corgi in it [irrelevant])
• (you should watch cowboy bebop just because its fucking awesome!)
• (shinsy I was glad you noticed the corgi, I was going to point it out to you) (I like talking in parenthesis)
• yup Ein is awesome!
• Why couden t Haloween be in September!?
• edited September 2010
I've read so much about this album its crazy. To answer your question from earlier, Its about south america for sure, well, apart of it. He was telling a story to an interviewer about how he went on a trip to south america, and took back a crocodile skull he found. Hes not basing the album on his trip, but its the raw inspiration of the album. Thats how the alien looking crocodile happened to be on the album art for down there. He asked one of his relatives or friends if they could use cloth and make it look like the skull he had.. its hard to explain. When i get home later tonight, ill post the interview i read about this.
• Wasn't hard to find, haha. Heres the link, and key quotes below. http://pitchfork.com/news/39774-avey-ta ... rocodiles/
Pitchfork: Crocodiles seem to play a pretty big part in this record. There's a crocodile's head on the cover and you're wearing one in the press photo. Can you explain that? AT: I went to Peru in January and [the album cover is] based off a photo of a skull I took down there. I gave it to my sister and was like, "Can you draw this on some cheesecloth and make the cover out of it? I've always really liked crocodiles. For me, the record is more the vision of the swamp and not so much an animal, like a crocodile or an alligator. I guess more alligators than crocodiles live in that swampy environment. Crocodiles live in the rivers too or the caimans in South America. But calling [the record] Down There, there's a lot of reasons for calling it that but one thing that comes to mind is the fact that I went down to Peru and it's kind of the Southern hemisphere down there. That ties into it a little bit.
• i'm just happy it'll be all swampy and murky and not like... avey goes with brazillian beats / world music style... oh GOD! we have the right to go! way down to mexico!
• Yeah. When i first get the album im sure i'll be too excited to listen to it. To really enjoy this music i think you'd have to be in a defenseless, calm mood. When i got hollindigan.. i was like.. this is kinda boring. But i listened to it when not so much was going on, and now its my favorite album. If the album is dark enough for avey tare not want to perform it live because it takes him to a place he doesnt wanna revisit.. then it's dark enough to scare me when im listening to my ipod before sleep!
• It BETTER be scary. I'm using it as a soundtrack to my dorm hall's Halloween celebration. We don't know what we are doing yet. I'm pushing for a haunted house.
• How interesting!
• what's going on down there! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" />
