dave harmonizes "yeah" & and screams "people." does this song represent the felt anxiety from society? the celebration of people? or is it something else? there is no wrong answer. i am just curious of others interpretation. -heeDUBLE-ha

One of the things that I really love about AC is that they blend lyrics with singing (using their mouths as instruments) and alot of times their lyrics and vocals blend so smoothely with the music that its hard to differentiate them - which is awesome! and arent the only words in PEOPLE - "always got to wash them at their ends" anyway rant ha GREAT song and ep <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile-1.gif" alt=":)" title=":)" /><!-- s:) -->
  • more like 2 song thing + lemming + bonus live version of track 1! <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< --> PEOPLE! [peep hole!] PEEPING TOM BOY!
  • I'd like to think of it as though from an alien perspective. The feeling of alienation that comes in from the slowly consuming mold of modern day living. The feeling of disconnect from our fellow 21st century man... and more importantly ourselves. An anthemic shout towards mankind. One that speaks of uncertainty, doubt, and a non-compliant stance towards all authority. <!-- s:xD: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/xD.gif" alt=":xD:" title="xD" /><!-- s:xD: -->
  • or maybe avey was just sitting on a bench watching people and thought... "...people! ... that's IT!" *writes the idea in his little notepad of ideas*

"...people! ... that's IT!" *writes the idea in his little notepad of ideas*[/quote] Haha, I love the idea of this. For me I guess it's always been about frustration with people. Or maybe it's so vague because the idea of "people" is so vague, since we are all so different.
  • I actually think this song is about relationships and how people interact with each other. in an abstract, sonic exploration kind of way......
  • i think people just really piss avey off! he's like: WHO NEEDS THEM! PEOPLE! <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< -->
  • Someone wrote this on songmeanings: The opening of this track reminds me quite a lot of the opening for 'Did You See the Words'; minus the kids laughter. Then someone indirectly replied to that person saying: i agree with raging bull, it felt like a dejavu when i heard this song. they definitely say "always gotta catch them at their ends" at 5:00 Then I replied to that and said: "Yeah I heard that too. In my opinion this song is basically like "PEOPLE (wake up and start loving!)" Because that line to me translates to "Damn, you always seem to finally get connected to people right as they are about to die / People always seem to catch on to "things" and "wake up" right at the end of their life"
  • I put an extreme amount of thought into this: I listened to DYSTW and People simutaneously and there are a lot of similarites in the structure and "mood" of the songs. I think DYSTW is about enjoying every moment of life. Also both songs exhibit the same excuberance. I looked at the album cover which had the same meaning as the DYSTW. The "creature" on the cover was too busy thinking of living and not actually doing it, and missing out on life. The beginning of "People" is one being a child and marvelling at everything in the world. The "yeahs" are the awakening and understanding the world. Then, "people" means that once one understands the world they become part of it, and they lose their identity and feel rushed along like in a river. Even while you are part of life you never fully realize it until you are nearing death thus, the lyrics, "gotta catch them at their ends". And the song keeps going because life is essentially a never-ending cycle.
  • its just animal collective singing about knowledge of the world
  • I know, I just felt like getting deep about it and seeing what I came up with.
