• edited April 2010
Maine is in the US!? I should have just googled it.. I'm loving the Fall Be Kind ep right now. I listen to it almost serveral times a day. I think the end of Graze is so fun, from comfort comfort. All the lyrics in that song are really great though. http://animalcollective.org/lyrics/song/graze I used to think the last two lines were 'Open the door and your staying home' So lately that bit of the song has been making me happy.
• yeah, sorry to burst your bubble guys. I'm not fancy french just a plain ol' yank.
•
I'm loving the Fall Be Kind ep right now. I listen to it almost serveral times a day. I think the end of Graze is so fun, from comfort comfort. All the lyrics in that song are really great though. .
I love the ending of graze because I know exactly how it feels to feel scarred and depressed as though comfort has left you. I like the part "Why can't I reach for you, when I most need you? You're at the beach and, I'm in some strange bed" Because it's sort of funny to imagine that in your time of great need when you're feeling scared and alarmed that your "comfort" is off on vacation enjoying itself and kind of mocking you. The fact that comfort is off at the beach kind of comforts me in a way:D
• shit that line you just posted really touches me deep in my soul. I always had trouble reaching my ex boyfriend when I needed him, he'd be off at night hanging out with friends while I struggled with a baby. I could never reach him when I needed him most and now even with our lives straightened out, that is still the case. He's always off having a good time while i'm in an uncomfortable situation by myself. I never realized how much that line meant to me until I saw it written out.
• Wow, it's really cool to be able to say stuff that brings meaning to the songs for other people. I'm sorry about your ex tigers. That's bs for him to just leave you hanging. It is really ironic how comfort, the people who are supposed to help us through tough times, can be so unreliable. It's like if they aren't there to comfort you then what's the point of them being there at all? It really makes you think.
• It's `k Tigers, my mom was in the same situation. I still haven't talked to my 'dad' since August of last year.
• yeah its alright guys, we've worked out most of our issues now. It was pretty impossible for him to instantly become a good dad when I had our son at eighteen. He had a shit awful father and was going through a hard time so he wasn't there to step up to the plate. I've forgiven him for that. He's a lot more mature and finally grew up now. Its mere coincidence that I can't reach him when I need to now. But i've got a massive family backing me so its no biggie. I love finding songs that so perfectly mean something though.
•
It's `k Tigers, my mom was in the same situation. If you ever want advice grizz, lemme know darlin.

• My Pop was an ok guy, but it's taken me decades to realize that. Also as I turn into an adult I can see how he positively influenced me. He is, however, dead, as of 1997. Now, let's not even start on stepfathers....
• Step fathers!? Yes, good idea wini. But if anyone has the need to!, the rant forum is waiting paitently..
• after finding this forum, immediately registered to interact with you all.... been looking over "turn into something" lyrics. does anyone have some alternate lines for "tennison tubs"? I hear it slurred as "tennyson tones" or "tunes", which makes a bit more sense for the message I get from the song. ----absolutely hooked on this song while running ----I try to understand it while running ----it's a good thing I continue to run ----because it's one hell of a song to delve into.
• Hi Merman, I've wondered about this song too: but I can't for the life of me discern the lyrics. The grinding guitar solo BLAARRGGGHH in it alays makes me want to SCREEEEEEEEAM it's SOOOO good and I wish it just played that bit over and over. Welcome, and thank you!
• *searches for feels cd - finds TIS lyrics - track 9! - listens and reads for first time* Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I've never read those lyrics before. I hear tennision tubs. • yeah, I love it! I just couldn't think of any good quotes... really really good looking...that's the closest.
• Getting back on the topic of the thread... I've been listening to STG,STV a lot lately, and I especially love April and the Phantom. After listening to it a whole bunch and reading the lyrics, I'm pretty sure the story goes like this: April is a teen that runs away from home and her oppressive mother with her boyfriend, Phantom, whom her parents disapprove of. Phantom is her only escape from her home life. She runs away because she is pregnant with Phantom's child, and does not want them to find out because she is scared of the consequences. She leaves without a goodbye note, and her parents only know of one place she could run away to: the forest. Phantom agrees to go with her. They run away together and April talks about the future she wants for them & the baby. April and Phantom get the results of an ultrasound, and Phantom gets cold feet and walks out on April and the baby; he also confesses to cheating on April. He tells her to go back to her mother, because he thinks she knows about the baby and that she will help. April thinks that he is being a child by not taking responsibility for the baby, and that he should grow up. April wants Phantom to be there for the baby. He promises he will. April thinks he's lying, and she can see through his lies. He reassures her that he will care for the baby. She doesn't feel good about his offer. He is angry that she doesn't believe him. Her family, who is now in the picture, tells her to let him go, and that he should be dead to her. Phantom knows the end of the conflict is near, but he will still be there for the baby. April and Phantom were once close; the times when April was living with her parents and couldn't go out on the weekends. They've settled their problems now, they agree with each other. April and Phantom talked all the time before they separated. They've settled their problems now, they agree with each other. Their child has social problems because of her weird home life.
• There's something I really like about "Imagine the beach of an old age that wasn't filled with girls" from From a Beach. Because people often associate beaches with girls running around in bikinis being all ditzy and that isn't what a beach is about, maaaaaaaaaan. The first few times I heard the song all I heard was "filled with girls" and I thought something like "uh oh, that's kinda stupid sounding!" but then I saw what it actually was and that made it better.
• I like your interpretation of that line. It makes me think of a beach before people hung around on in little bikinis. What were beaches like in the middle ages? I'm not really sure. But that's what I think it's talking about.
•
There's something I really like about "Imagine the beach of an old age that wasn't filled with girls" from From a Beach.
From a Beach? ...what album/ep is that from? ..I'm confused
• it's from a random radio session, I think. Generally just an unreleased, wonderful little tune.
• i'm pretty sure this is where I got it from: http://www.bansheebeat.com/ac.html It's over three quarters of the way down under "11/18/07: BBC Radio Session (MP3, AAC) "
• My favorite lyrics is Imagine - John Lennon, just amazing lyrics from an amazing artist. Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today... Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace... just a little bit of the lyrics.
• I just read through this entire thread, all of you are so amazing. I have found so many new beautiful things. I will add more later, I just wanted to say you all are so great.
• Aww, you're great too! Can't wait to read your posts because this is one of my favorite threads and it's been deadeded lately.
• Thanks similar!
• Did you see the words. One of my all time favorites. Because its messy, yes, this mess is mine Though mine is messy, yours is maybe nine Look we’ve had similar stitches Look we have similar frowns Do the elderly couples still Kiss and hug and Grab their big wrinkly skin, so tough, wrinkly wrink, wrink wrinkly rough? I saw a really elderly couple holding hands today as they walked down the road, and then saw them again later when the old man came in to buy his wife ice cream at my ice cream shop. I am excited to some day have wrinkly skin, and happy to see people can still be so in love even when they are getting towards the end of life. Summertime Clothes: Hunt for the breeze, get a midnight meal I point in the windows, you point out the parks Rip off your sleeves and I'll ditch my socks We'll dance to the songs from the cars as they pass Weave through the cardboard, smell that trash Walking around in our summertime clothes, Nowhere to go while our bodies glow And we'll greet the dawn in its morning blues With purple yawn, you'll be sleeping soon And I want to walk around with you This song is such a vivid story, and brings be back to so many of my favorite memories of late night summer walks. in fact it even reminds me of tonight. I just got off work 1AM, but my friend came and helped me and it was super fun, involving driving golf carts around, sorting all the trash for an ice cream shop and a bowling alley, and eating bread pudding at midnight. I especially like the bit And we'll greet the dawn in its morning blues With purple yawn, you'll be sleeping soon Such beautiful poetic words that bring so many vivid memories of summer all nighters with purple dawns... ahhh musical perfection. I could go on for a while. But this is too long as is. It's just my first free time all day.
• mmm, those are excellent moments! I'm glad that you enjoy this thread as much as we have. It really is a favorite of mine too. I especially love the lines you pointed out from Summertime Clothes; i've never really appreciated them before.
• Not sure if Panda Bear counts as AC song on this site but this is my favorite lyric so far..... It's not a ticket for you to pick at other people who don't know whats up, like your so sure you do.
• Avey's screaming is my favorite lyric.
• "I'm alright! I'm alright! I'm alriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!"
• I think we should have a different section for lyrics from other bands than animal collective. Imma move these lyrics
• definitely april and the phantom, and Prospect Hummer, April and the Phantom makes me feel like i'm wearing a skirt in the jungle. Prospect Hummer reminds me of days with my girlfriend just laying around and drinking coffee
•
April and the Phantom makes me feel like i'm wearing a skirt in the jungle.
a feeling i know all too swell...
• These are some amazing lyrics "Come on Davey Open the blinds You gotta look past the window And fly" "I don’t care if I don’t wake up You’ll kiss me and I’ll surely wake up" "Well I had a little slippi and I held it as a baby And I wanna (get) to mommy cause i’m sentimental slippi Well i’m gonna raise a family and I gotta have a baby And she’ll have a little slippi and she’ll say oh my little slippi little slippi" "But there’s no need to worry This is just a vacation It’s not permanent leaving Every kid gets excited" “I’d take my time, you take your time, please take your time.” They make me feel that I can do whatever I want and not feel bad about it.
• This might be long. : P "Your breath sounds Inhaling a portrait, it's frozen.- -When sound is dead will you sing in time And lie?" "What's with all the changes since the time I was aware?" "I talk too much about you Their ears are getting tired of me singing all the night through Let's just talk together You and me and me and you And if there’s nothing much to say Well, silence is a bore" "Meet me after the world with the shivers" "You just drift and pray For sun kissed golden days. And I can't hold what's in my hand Don't do any good to say this isn't what I planned" "What do you see when you see inside of me?" "There isn't much that I feel I need A solid soul and the blood I bleed" "I should be floating, but I'm weighted by thinking" "Am I really all the things that are outside of me?" "It'd sure feel good to share our favorite things I'll keep an open mind if you let me in Don't let your temper rise, don't get a bitter face Try not to judge me on my kind of taste And don't go changing clothes when they don't like yours" And basically every line from For Reverend Green, Summertime Clothes and In The Flowers. <3
• Man, so many to choose but all time favourite that just sums up a complete detachmant from all of the bullshit in adult life and the cruel yet beautiful flow of time and the difference of yourself from when you were small is: "From one moment to the next, red negativity in the street, maybe its the dirt, maybe it's the heat a baby on the bus smiled at me so easy" From For Reverand Green. That whole song is incredible. The whole of Banshee beat is a winner: " You can forget about the things that he can say like... ah- I don't think that I like you any more, I got new feelings from the feelings store". that whole tune is so melancholy but kind of a warm hug. another favourite for more knowing reasons has got to be from Chores: "I want to get so stoned, and take a walk out in the light drizzle!" -Love to all the animals. x
• Reverend Green is great because most bands, even great ones, stick with a straight 7/8 feel most of the time instead of switching it up to 14/8 (which the AC did in WWIW?S, but it's still cool.)
• Flesh Canoe is wonderful, my favorite lyrics are "just wondering what to do with myself and you making funny faces naked in the mirror of the bathroom" (I may be slightly off) but that image is so lovely to me. It seems so natural and beautiful.
• Pretty little femur sittin' in my cherry dreamboat I'd be sad if you're rejected from my hipbone or my knee If I sailed away from continents and touched my lover's hair then You'd be very happy if I touched her there I was very nervous how I felt in there I was very cautious when you said "hey there" Would you like to see me? Often Though you don't need to see me Often Because I'd like to see you, often! Though I don't need to see you, often! We do the dance upon the plain And I shake your little shoulders Push you down into the grain And rub our noses in the night, We do, we do. POW! POW! NOW! NOW! POW! POW! NOW! NOW! POW! POW! NOW! NOW! POW! POW! NOW! NOW!
• skirt in the jungle! haha! that's rich!
• Some kind of magic in the way you talk about your Blue eyeshadow It’s not exactly blue though You refuse to call it anything but your blue. . .
