Pullhair Rubeye

edited February 2011 in Side Projects
So, I just recently listened to this CD and was blown away by the simplicity. Its so beautiful. but I was wondering if anyone knew why they decided to make a forwards and backwards playing version? I've never heard of anything like that before. It seems strange. I haven't heard the backwards yet, but i'm excited.

• Haven't heard it yet. Anybody know of a place that has a torrent? Also: forwards and backwards? Really?! Bitchin'.
• yes, seriously. I just downloaded it via mediafire. just so everyone knows, I may download music, but I plan on buying it all on vinyl one day.
• do you have the link?
• nope, but i'll find it for ya! http://sunflowerchakramilk.blogspot.com/2008/02/avey-tare-kra-brekkan-pullhair-rubeye_01.html that's also a pretty cool music blog with some really interesting stuff on there. You should check it out thoroughly. There's also Crumbling Lands on there too.
• i heard the backwards album before the forwards one, it's crazy. such a beautiful album forwards, i must admit backwards it sounds a bit effed up, but regardless. HOW COOL ARE THEY? releasing an album backwards!? anyways, I think I downloaded the backwards version in an aveytare+kriabrekkan discography, just un-check the albums you already have on your torrent program! HUZZAH.
• I've never had the paitence to listen to the whole thing backwards, but when I get itunes on my new laptop at home I'll definitely listen to both fowards and backwards. What way do you guys thinks it sounds best? - I also like the Abyss Song (Abby's Song) from Crumbling Land quite a bit. I use to listen to that everyday. It reminds me a bit of Therapy Car Noise - Department of Eagles, the way its almost making a song out of natural enviroment noises. And the song Crumbling Land reminds me of Tikwid.
• I still have yet to download the backwards version. But when I do, i'll tell you my opinion. I haven't listened to all of Crumbling Land yet! Thanks for reminding me about it! I'll pick away at it throughout today so I can participate in the discussion properly.
• I like it, but I think I have to be in one of my mathematical music moods to listen to the album and truly appreciate it.
• i'm listening to it right now and made it to the last track. Beautiful. I love how Avey uses his voice. The whispers, mumbles, everything about it is perfection. The whole album reminds me of man's idea of outside noises. Future outside noises. I can't even begin to describe what I mean. Fabulous album, though.
• For me the greatest song on the album is Opis Helpus!! I was going to buy the CD but i don t want the backwards version, anyone own the cd can tell me wether it was pupliched both ways?
• Hokay. So. I really like this album. Problem: the two versions I acquired have the same song listings but the songs are different! Shenanigans! Anways, I was hoping someone from this board may know the answer, because after a little bit of Googlin' I found that there is apparently an extended release of this album? No idea if that's true. Listening to the tracks now, they I believe are slowed down on one release and are normal speed on the other. Or perhaps the "slowed down" ones are actually the normal speed and the "normal speed" are actually sped up... Fack - though I don't think that's the case thanks to Wikipedia. But the tracks are: Foetus No-Man Palenka Sasong So yeah, what's the deal here?
• wait...so what's the track listing for both versions? Are those three songs not on one of your versions? I have all of them on mine...hm... I know that one version of this album is played Fowards and the other is Backwards playing. But that is all I know...
•
yes, seriously. I just downloaded it via mediafire. just so everyone knows, I may download music, but I plan on buying it all on vinyl one day.
same deal. Plus I've already bought like 7 of their cds, so they can't be THAT upset that I downloaded the rest <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/razz.gif" alt=":P" title="razz" /><!-- s:P --> I find that forwards, the album is much more songy, and quite enjoyable. Listening backwards creates more of an atmosphere than anything, something eerie yet natural, confusing and warm.
wait...so what's the track listing for both versions? Are those three songs not on one of your versions? I have all of them on mine...hm... I know that one version of this album is played Fowards and the other is Backwards playing. But that is all I know...
It's the same track listing but the actual tracks themselves are different. This is the "slow" version I am speaking of. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pullhair_Rubeye">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pullhair_Rubeye</a><!-- m --> Look at the times on Wikipedia for Sasong. See what I mean? Tis different. How long are your versions of the three songs I listed? One of mine is identical to the Wikipedia times and the other has those 3 tracks that are about double the original length each. Like I said, they are slowed down versions of the songs... or well, the "real" version so to speak? They added speed up effects on the three tracks I believe. Makes sense because the guitar work in its sped up state is rather awesome/requiring of skill I didn't think either of the two were capable of on an acoustic... *EDIT* Mystery solved. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.kickasstorrents.com/avey-tare-kria-brekkan-pullhair-rubeye-3-versions-t2427972.html">http://www.kickasstorrents.com/avey-tar ... 27972.html</a><!-- m --> There are three versions. Original, the reverse fix, and "streched" versions of the three songs I've previously mentioned. I gotta say though I like the guitar in the original reverse more than the streched... but the vocals in the streched are nice.
• The version I downloaded had strectched or compressed forward versions of those three songs, along with the normal forward and backwards. Probably because those three were sped up or slowed down along with being reversed when they released the album.
• to make things even more complicated there is also a version where it is both forwards and backwards at the same time [and if you play THAT backwards it is the exact same!] worth it to hear it both more song-like and atmospherik at the same time truly the way the album was MEANT to be heard! i do bird!
• News to me, I only have the backwards version xD, Now to find the forwards...
• also check out the INVERTED version!
• what's the difference between the backwards and the inverted? I've never heard the backwards one.
• the actual album is backwards? you mean you never heard the backwards version IN REVERSE ? (aka FORWARDS!) i can't imagine never being curious enough to check it out! when it first came about no one really wanted to listen to it backwards / everyone wanted to reverse it and hear the simple folky songs! still super angry what they did to the AWESOME feetush no-mang it makes me so so angry! what were you THINKING avey <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< --> were you DRINKING? i hope it was tasty! i blame INLAND UMPIRE / david lunch!
• I have heard the backwards one in reverse (obviously!) your use of the word inverted just confused me! I think its amazing that they released the whole album backwards (which technically makes it fowards that way).
• the only thing i like about it is the PRANK aspect of it and the idea that you now have TWO versions of the same album to listen to... i don't like the sped-up factor though? and like i said FOETUS NO MAN being changed so much... what the hell? why even call it the same name! damn you avey! <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< -->
• why'd you reverse it avey? <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< --> did you think that was FUNNY?
• were you trying to impress somebody?
