• We could certainly spend pages speculating about it!
• I heard the new album's gonna be coming in 2015. They're doing field research in Dubai, searching for new sounds.
• In all seriousness, if another album is produced, what do you think it will sound like? On a scale being from Hollindigan to MPP? or out of that scale if you think?
• I'm thinking we'll be able to see material by the end of the year Whether that is a single or a full album they're going to be playing new material at Coachella no doubt. They wouldn't tour if they didn't. And Dave's always said that they want to put a record out as soon as it's finished, that Domino didn't want to release 2 AnCo records in 2 years was the reason MPP got pushed to 09
• Wini's right; those guys haven't stopped working since Spirit, and they're showing no indication of slowing down now. I bet they'll get one out by the end of the year.
•
Domino didn't want to release 2 AnCo records in 2 years was the reason MPP got pushed to 09
that's right! forgot about that so really 06 is probably the slowest year they've had but they were obviously riding the FEELS gravy train and gearing up for strawjam by early that year! so weird how long it takes stuff to actually come about may 07 to early 09 for MPP is INSANE
• AnCo have been giving far more content to fans in between albums than say, TV on the Radio or Grizzly Bear I love that we still got ODDSAC, Panda Bear singles and Deakin solo bootlegs this year alone.
• They're obviously all about the music. Favorite modern popular music group, by far.
• they weren't always popular! but they've always been POP! experimental pop! putting the MENTAL in!
• I like thinking about the new album. Timeline? Well, Noah has moved back to the states (or is fixing to) and they have tour dates scheduled for the late Spring. They will probably tour some of the new stuff. Then recording and mixing and gobbledy gook and I would think it would be near the end of the year. In time for Christmas.
• I know they're going to be recording the album in Baltimore. I love that we can't predict anything. The album could go anywhere.
• I for one am super excited to hear the new stuff in April when they start touring again. I really, really hope they do a summer tour, too. And I can't wait for the Keep songs that are coming soon (it's March already, come on!).
• I feel like the keep songs could be sort of dissapointing. Like Animal Crack Box. Which wasnt reall dissapointing, i liked it, but i feel like if i payed that much money i'd be dissapointed.
• Crack Box was only $20 when it first came out. I missed my chance, arrgh. Then supply and demand made it the inflated price it is now. Yeah, my favorite part of the new album is that we have NO IDEA what it is going to be like, which makes it fun.
• wait i swear it was like 50 bucks? i can't remember... but 20 seems way too low... and yeah i feel like the SONGS FOR SHOES will be some okay-ish things but possibly like the weaker crack box / oddsak stuff... interesting and worth hearing but probably nothing killer.... but low / no expectations are always a good thing to [not] hold! they make life seem better than it IS!
• the only things i'm expecting about this album is that it would come out very late this year/early next year and that panda is going to be drumming.
• geo on lead vox [CURVE BALL]
• as i've said before panda's on a sit down kit. I'm really excited about the fact that they're rehearsing now. They've probs been at it for a month or so.
• Im hoping that Panda is on the drums, Deakin is contributing organic guitarness, Geo is happily beep-booping and Avey is happy, in love, and screeching a lot.
• I keep expecting him to develop vocal nodules. Poor guy's got to take it easy before he starts sounding like Tom Waits.
•
AnCo have been giving far more content to fans in between albums than say, TV on the Radio or Grizzly Bear I love that we still got ODDSAC, Panda Bear singles and Deakin solo bootlegs this year alone.
Not to mention Down There. <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/razz.gif" alt=":P" title="razz" /><!-- s:P --> And part of me wonders if the band are actually recording the album right now and not just writing. I remember Avey saying in an interview last fall that he'd like to record an album before touring with those songs, just for a different approach. That, and they are spending 3 months in Baltimore before they go on tour, when they cranked out a good number of those MPP songs within two weeks before leaving for tour.
• Yeah, I think they've been recording... Can't wait until April when all the bootleg stuff with come out (hopefully). If we're lucky, I can see a new album sometime this year, if not an EP or something.
• Agreed, i'd like another blast of sound by them this year. I need it.
• I cant wait to hear/see the bootlegs of the shows. I cant wait to hear new songs, it's gonna be great. As far as things I would like to see is all of them have songs the contribute lead vocals on, or a melody of all 4 singing together.
• beach boy harmonkies!!!
• not convinced about deakin's voice or geologist's so I don't really want that but i do want more animal collective!
• i want deeks & geo pushed to the front and AVEY+PANDA put on the back burn her! if they truly are an equal collective! then a deeks&geo LP would still be AC! eyah!
• all i can say is i am glad panda is gonna be drumming and Deakin is back. i would probably stop liking the band so much if they put out another album with a heavy focus on electronics like mpp. hopefully they will give us something completely refreshing, i can't wait

I want it to be something we haven't heard before, but something we can enjoy, and still feels like animal collective. But i guess everyone feels that way about alot of bands.
• If they can change it up completely and make something new AND great once again, I'll be impressed. Most groups can't. I'd love it if they could. Even if it's more stuff that's along the same lines as stuff they've done before with some differences, I think it'll be pretty good. Those guys all have good ears for music, clearly.
• um you know what i wouldn't worry about them not changing it up. just look at their career they're not the ones to stay in one style for much time. if panda bear IS on the drums again i hope he'll still be songwriting
• I don't know if I've said this before but my favorite lineup was during the feels era with avey and deeks playing guitar and panda on drums. just add it Geo doing his bleep bloops and I would go crazy. I still hope they come to Atlanta! They could kill it at the Tabernacle!
• I'm with you, Tabelz. That lineup was great.
• yeah but there were NO panda bear songs besides loch raven sort of
• Yeah, it would be nice to have some more Panda songs on the new one. I could be mistaken, as this is just an assumption, but I think that part of the reason MPP is so much more electronic than any of the earlier albums, excluding the stuff like Hollindagain, is because Panda's medium for songwriting is more electronic/sampled than the other members', except for maybe Geo. Nevertheless, I think it would be cool to have both the more instrument-oriented lineup along with more Panda material.
•
I don't know if I've said this before but my favorite lineup was during the feels era with avey and deeks playing guitar and panda on drums. just add it Geo doing his bleep bloops and I would go crazy. • I wouldn't be too bummed if there weren't many Panda songs on the new album since we have a full albums worth of Panda jams coming next month.
• True... Tell you the truth, I don't even know which songs are whose, aside from stuff on the solo albums. One thing's for sure: I love Animal Collective, and the next album can't come out soon enough.
• i don't like panda songs on AC albums in the sense that some gimps say "all the best songs are panda songs he's so much better than avey!" when avey is the true blue magik man of the band [in my monkey mind!] avey tare IS ... animal collective! eyah!
• I'm psyched that Deaks is back and Panda is back on the drums... the band has so much more energy when they are all together!
• Agreed, I love Deakin's muzak.
• [quote="G.O. • thats just "my opinion, man" but i "feel you"
• down there > campfire / vashti ep [project: gummer] / young prayer / panda s/t / jane / terrestrial tones / holland / pull the eye grubby hair! in my mind!
• I agree with you for the most part on those. I guess I'm just a Pandy fanboy. Just want at least 2-3 songs to settle my undying hunger for panda
•
"]down there > jane / terrestrial tones / holland / pull the eye grubby hair!
I can agree with that much of it but certainly not the others. I'm also a huge huge huge panda fan and though Avey certainly contributes a massive amount to the albums, I find Panda to be equally as important.
• I'm pretty sure that Deakin is the most important member of AC. He's like George Harrison! (That's totally a compliment)
• he IS kind of their under-grated secret weapon i hope his solo album / stuff and him coming back to the band and hopefully getting a bigger role can solidify that reputation! leaving geo at RINGO status! haha!
• i think geo is the most important member where would anco be without the ORIGINAL bleepy bloop man
• there used to be the joke / fun idear that geo was the GLUE that held the entire band together going so far as the idea that every single thing the other guys DO is modified by brian ALL SOUNDS GO THROUGH GEO! even avey/panda's VOICES they actually can't sing ... that was just geo modifying their vocal sounds to sound amazing! oh man we used to LOVE that idea!
