Animal Collective at Guggenheim

Could someone please explain to me this video : <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href=""> m --> Or any of the Guggenheim videos, really. When was it? why were they there? WHERE is the guggenheim? All those. You grape.

• The Guggenheim is an art museum on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, next to Central Park. Frank Lloyd Wright's last major project, it's now one of the most well-known art museums in New York. It has a very distinctive shape (the famous part of the structure is the part that's an enormous spiral walkway along which art is hung.) I think it was early last year that AC announced that they and Danny Perez would be renting out the Guggenheim for a night or two and having this big party sort of thing. My friend and I were gonna grab tix and fly up for it, but it was sold out by the time we heard about it. I'm pretty sure it was in relation to/to promote Oddsac.
• Oh, I see I see. That video just always sort of freaks me out. I'm glad you could give me a wee little bit of insight to the story behind it though. Fanks, Welk DAVE.
• a LOT of people got pissed i think ... thinking that it was going to be more of a traditional live show... and what they got baffled and angered them... haha!
• It wasn't really related to Oddsac, but I think they used similar ideas. There is a whole official recording but I don't think they'll ever release it.
•
Could someone please explain to me this video : <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href=""> m -->
It was basically a museum-wide installation with some DJ'ing. I'm pretty sure it didn't have anything to do with ODDSAC proper (except maybe as a sort of trial-run at a collaboration with Danny (as opposed to "here's the music, pls make an awesome video thx")
• Well, thank you! I've always had questions about that little clip. But now I do not. It seems like it would be a pretty surreal experience.
• it's the type of thing where i'd want an INSIDE BONFIRE [somehow] and to maybe drink a bit and just hang around and talk with that all in the background... well maybe scream rather than talk... it'd be super loud! ... then get up and kinda danse or zone out!
• amen. I'd danse right next to ya if you'd allow.
• I'm angry already! Why wasn't there a better spread? Where'd the Van Gogh? They can't just do this things without consulting u first.
• What Dave? The butter spread is right here, shuga. It's ALL right here.
• I'm sad I wasn't at this <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt=":(" title="sad" /><!-- s:( --> I knew that the band wasn't performing. I wanted to go just to kinda take in the atmosphere, sort of soak it all in. Kinda like what Panda says he does at clubs, he said he doesn't dance but he takes in the atmosphere of clubs (citation needed, think i saw it on the interview thread on CA)
• for the longest time pre-Person Pitch there was some mysterious talk of Panda Dances and we didn't know what the heck that MEANT... i wonder what the heck he was talking about!
• Panda Dances? <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href=""> m -->
• Panda bamboo pole dance?
• Panda Dances? <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href=""> m -->
• fecal matters is one of my favorite short films ever
•
There is a whole official recording but I don't think they'll ever release it.
or so you thought! just one year later! GATOR!
