THE ULTIMATE QUESTION

maybe the title is a bit dramatic, but I was wondering what everyone's "FAVORITE ALBUMS OF ALL TIME" are? You only get to pick ten! I'm going to work on mine and then return with an answer. Preferably they would all be in order, one being the most favorite and ten being the least. why haven't we discussed this before?

  • can't believe he hasn't had an album since 2002! the hell is he DOING! (and when he comes back he won't be fun little boy-ish g-rated hippity hop he'll try to be all serious and sexual and get guest stars / rappers / UGH) <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt=":(" title="sad" /><!-- s:( --> i still have my aaron carter shirt it was too small for me even back then! it makes me look like a FUN BOY!
  • when I was a very young girl I wrote Aaron Carter an e-mail about how much I appreciated his music and wanted to be his best friend. Then my cousin read it and teased me mercilessly but I was just an innocent little girl. I am shocked that you like him GO! but...good for you!
  • way to make me feel like a little girl <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< --> i never saw the guy in concert [sadly!] but i "met" him! he was doing a thing at mall of america and when he left i got to shake his hand [probably weirding him the hell out... i was 17! ... he must have been... 15? ...] other times i got to meet random people there like donnie osmond [!] or KEVIN BACON [!!!] sadly i only SAW kenny g ... but didn't get to meet him / shake his hand / say HELLO! god it was a weird time in life!
  • you met him! My inner little girl is mad jealous. I was positive that we were soul mates. I'm sorry that it makes you feel like a little girl. The only time i've met random people is Ween but that's good enough for me. Also my ULTIMATE LIST has changed a lot. 1. Modest Mouse - Lonesome Crowded West 2. • This was from the top of my head, some classics and some new. The list changes all the time. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile-1.gif" alt=":)" title=":)" /><!-- s:) --> 1. Radiohead - OK Computer. 2. Animal Collective - Feels. 3. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless 4. Jean-Michel Jarre - Equinoxe. 5. Nick Drake - Pink Moon. 6. Pixies - Doolittle. 7. • 2 soul coughing - ruby vroom ^yes!!!! oh man... my dad bought that album on TAPE and i still have that tape [he gave it to me at some point... also in 97 i bought him portishead s/t for christmas? at 13 years old? dang that's strange...] ... so many really groovy songs / style in sound... the 2nd album was pretty good but nothing compared to vroom and the 3rd had the minor hit song and was really fun [that one is super under-grated! el oso! spanish for... the oso!] also THE FRAGILE! ... that one is my fave. NIN ... followed by pretty hate machine... haha! most would say downward spiral but i like the 2 that surround it so much more! ... also the song the perfect drug... oh man... that song got me to check out lost highway / into lynch! [the soundtrack also had bowie / RAMMSTEIN / a really groovy electronic smashing pumpkins song called EYE that i wish they had made more of like that... far better than anything on adore or future embrace] eyah
  • eye was kind of meh for me, a little too much gothic melodrama and not enough hard rock for my taste. maybe it was because that's when they started losing chamberlain.
  • who needs a drum her!
  • @yukbon: were you drunk when you wrote your top ten list? Your punctuation is inconsistent. @bmx-ninja: My Bloody Valentine's Loveless was life-changing for me. OK, I am answering this as if these were the only albums I could ever listen to again. Because that is how I think. This is also not in order of importance. Animal Collective- Strawberry Jam The Beatles- White Album Hedningarna- Tra The Mothers of Invention- Freak Out The Police- Ghost in the Machine Fleetwood Mac- Rumours The Residents- Duck Stab Tchaikovsky- Nutcracker Suite Sunset Rubdown- Shut Up I Am Dreaming Miracle Room- Miracle Room
  • Yeah, Loveless was mind-blowing for me when I heard it. Actually, I think "Isn´t anything" is equally good. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile-1.gif" alt=":)" title=":)" /><!-- s:) --> But making a top ten-list is much easier if you have only one album per band. So glad I got to see MBV live... it was a dream come true.
  • [quote]The Residents- Duck Stab [/quote] very odd! ... could never get into that band and boy did i try way too many albums... they kind of enraged me in a way! ... get way too much praise in my mind! ... they could be really annoying! ... i'm trying to think of the ones i heard... the most disappointing was commercial album... it wasn't what they said it was dangit! ... BRILLIANT idea though... take the best part of a song and don't have it dragged out / repeated for 3-4min just the key part... but they forgot the good songs! meet the residents really annoyed me... eskimo was kind of cool but it's been so many years... ducky stabby
  • Oh yeah, I hate a lot of their other stuff. Dislike the majority of their discography. I just love that album because it is super evocative of when I was 16. I like the Commercial Album, some of it. I'm going to go listen to it now. I like Discomo, and I own the picture disc becuz I am cool.
  • i felt inconsistent i would argue that the pumkins direly needed a drummer. wini, your inclusion of freak out leads me to want to check out the ones i haven't heard of (Hedningarna- Tra, Sunset Rubdown- Shut Up I Am Dreaming, Miracle Room- Miracle Room) although i much prefer hot rats to freak out, but still
  • the only frank zappa song i heard that i truly loved was... MONTANA
  • yippy yi yo ki-yay! <!-- s>__< --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/mad.gif" alt=">__<" title="mad" /><!-- s>__< -->
  • willie the pimp is such a great song
  • I'm a little Whipping Post Floss with my hair gassed back.
  • his son was the voice of the sun of duckman who was voiced by george costanza [can't stand ya!]
  • The sea was angry that day, my friends - like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli. I got about fifty feet out and suddenly the great beast appeared before me. I tell you he was ten stories high if he was a foot. As if sensing my presence, he let out a great bellow. I said, "Easy, big fella!" And then, as I watched him struggling, I realized that something was obstructing its breathing. From where I was standing, I could see directly into the eye of the great fish.
  • wait...what?
  • Then, from out of nowhere, a huge tidal wave lifted me, tossed me like a cork, and I found myself right on top of him - face to face with the blowhole. I could barely see from the waves crashing down upon me but I knew something was there. So I reached my hand in, felt around, and pulled out the obstruction. [George reveals the obstruction to be a golf ball]
  • I'm at the corner of 1st and 1st... how can the same street intersect with itself? i must be at the nexus of the universe!!
