Animal Collective are playing a show at Merriweather Post Pavilion July 9th! Tickets go on sale Friday at 10:00 am. I'm going! I only live two minutes away
Now we can begin to speculate whether they´re playing any songs from MPP or not. It would be kind of cool if they only played new songs, but I guess a lot of people would be disappointed. Maybe they will play the hole album from start to finish? But then again, if they did, I guess all the music-journalists present would only wet their pants...
My guess is they will play some new songs, and some from MPP, but reworked.
My sister might be visiting friends in Virginia.
If she goes, I swear I'm going to find a way to go to this. it's huge
i'm from maryland too! did i mention that? lived right near merriweather. when i mentioned to my dad that my favorite band named their most recent album after it he was like "you have no idea how many bands i saw there."

They couldn't play the whole thing all the way through. They've said before it wouldn't be possible to play whole albums by them all the way through due to lost samples and such. but seriously, i'm going to find a way to go!

Yeah, that´s true, I forgot about that. They also said in an interview that "Taste" is imspossible to play live, because some of the samples are put together on a computer, and they don´t want to use playback. But honestly, I don´t think AC are the type of band to play one album through, my guess is it will never happen. Unless they have any plans on performing Oddsac live...
Not directly related to this topic, but....
They're also playing at a huge amphitheater in Alpharetta, GA, and I want to go soooo bad.
I'll have to see how pricey the tickets are when they go on sale this Friday.
i will be at Verizon <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile-1.gif" alt=":)" title=":)" /><!-- s:) --> it's enormous I was surprised Arcade Fire played there. I wonder if it's almost a warm-up for the MPP show.
they are 30 dollars. every single ticket. yes. it's a dream come true
i'm still amazed they're playing 2 massive shows in a row. ARCADE FIRE didn't come close to selling out this place. yet mumford sold out MPP. mumford.........
hey dave, are you a fan of the We Bid You Goodnight/Purple Bottle?
@Tabelz: Yes, I was really psyched to hear 'em do a Dead cover. They don't do many covers, which makes it feel even more special. In fact, though I assume there are others, I can't even think of any covers they do aside from that. Anyone know?
Edit: Just remembered that great, haunting version they did of Polly. Any others?
I'm going SpritBear. It looks like it's just us two though. I'm surprised there's not more of us going. I'm closer to Atlanta, but I thought seeing them at Merriweather Post Pavilion would definitely be something to remember. But that's not to say that seeing them anywhere else wouldn't be as epic. I just think that it will be pretty historical to see them at MPP.
bansheebeat.com used to have a performance of We Bid You Goodnight, but it seems that they're offline for now. A shame. Anyway, there's a version of it in "Gets", and here's a link to it:
