Panda Bear at the Hollywood Bowl

edited September 2011 in Reverb
Who is going to this show? I don't really want to sit through the other bands playing so I'm not sure if I'll go or not. BUT does anyone think there is a chance of a secret show around that time in LA or even a SoCal solo show announced? It was announced today that he will be playing in Dallas so possibly more West Coast shows to be announced. Any ideas?

• Not many of us are from the West Coast unfortunately. Unfortunately I don't think there looks to be a concrete touring schedule for Panda at this time. As much as I want to see Tomboy live, I'm fully prepared to realize that it's probably not going to happen. If you do make it out to the Bowl show, I'd really recommend you stay and sit through all the other bands (except for Arctic Monkeys, I think they sucks)
•
unfortunately. Unfortunately
man oh man ain't nothing fortunate 'round here
except for Arctic Monkeys, I think they sucks
well they suck it and see anyway
•
(except for Arctic Monkeys, I think they sucks)
Agreed. I would love to go to the Hollywood Bowl. Can't, though. If you go, get there early. There is going to be a ton of rare, limited merch at the merch hole (according to Sonic Boom). Cool posters n shit.
• The biggest problem is that I have to be back in San Diego for class at 9am the next day. I need to convince my roommate to trek with me. I'm sure it will be worth it. Thanks for the heads up on the merch, too. I really want to go to this show. I hope it works out.
• So I just went ahead and bought tickets. I plan on getting there quite early to get a jump on that merch. I am very excited for this.
• Youll have to tell us how it goes.
• show reports are great!
• Oh, I certainly will. I take it that not too many patrons here are on the West Coast. And this year I have had some great luck meeting artists this year (James Blake, John Maus, Ariel Pink, Bradford Cox, got acknowledged by all of AnCo during their sound check at Coachella) so hopefully I can meet Noah.
• I wish I was and I plan on moving there, but for the time being I'm on the East Coast. Good luck with meeting Noah.
• I'd guess almost anyone here would have a better chance of seeing them live/meeting them than I would, living in Canada. Particularly Saskatchewan. And being a minor. I dream of meeting them, giving them my compliments, telling them how they've changed my life.. you know, all that you'd expect to hear from an obsessed teenager~ Still, I've pretty much accepted that this will never happen, though, but if I ever had even a small chance of seeing them live or talking to them, I'd take it! (What a lovely, awkward conversation that would be!) Anyways, I hope you get to see Panda perform! <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/lol.gif" alt=":D" title="lol" /><!-- s:D -->
• Someone at CA saw Geo at the grocery store. That would be so cool.
• I ran into John Maus and Ariel Pink at a coffee shop once. That was a very awesome moment. They let me join them and chat!
• That's insane. Tell us more. Now. It would be really bizarre to meet Ariel Pink.
• It would be like, I me Ariel Pink looking through trash cans or I saw Ariel Pink giving a lecture at a college. A situation that defies explanation.
• I saw Deakin at the movies one time.
• No you didn't. That's just too cool to be true. WHY CAN'T I MEET FAMOUS PEOPLE?! Well I guess I met Wayne Coyne at a concert (not Flaming Lips concert) but I've told you all that story before. And the other week I met a guy who is friends with Banksy. But really. I want to meet the Animal Collectives.

• I love the Hollywood bowl, I usually go there at least once every summer. I haven't yet. I SHOULD go to this. I don't exactly why I'm not itching to. (Cold Primates maybe)
• Well, John Maus and Ariel Pink are a couple of characters. Surprisingly, Ariel Pink was fairly normal. He seemed a bit uneasy that someone noticed him. He said he wasn't used to the recognition. But John Maus is a smart man and he asked me loads of questions pertaining to my education and where I want to go with it. So that was pretty great. SHINSY: I too was pissed about the Arctic Monkeys, but the show is too great to pass up. Sonic Boom has been talking about the Hollywood show quite a bit so I feel it will be worth it.
• I wouldn't recognize John Maus. But I would recognize Ariel.

Other than that, haven't met anyone I consider famous. But I'm hoping to meet Jack White when he comes to Atlanta w/Raconteurs in Nov.
• Well that makes more sense haha. I thought you went to go see Inception or something and Deaks just sat down in the theater.
• you guys make me sad with your Arctic Monkeys hate. I'm really in love with their music and beautiful lyricism. It seemed like the perfect show to me because of the entire line-up. As for people i've met...I've really only met Ween and...Neon Trees (my cousin's band of choice, they were super super nice though). The idea of John Maus and Ariel Pink hanging out together seems so right. Like you just walked in on an alternate universe that is perfect.
• tonight or tomorrow night? I've also decided when I have a moment i'm going to make an Arctic Monkeys thread and convert you all.
• The show was so unreal. Perfect. Panda Bear was spot on. BROS WAS SO GREAT!
• It was only a 35 minute set but I felt like it was forever (I WISH). But they cut the intro a little on YCCOM, went into a great Tomboy, then Slow Motion, AN UNREAL LNATJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I was praying for Alsatian Darn (no such luck) so that got me worried he wasnt going to play Bros buuuuut then he played BULLSEYE. There was a pause in the set, so I began to get sad but then a very trebley, steady clap roared and he played Comfy and Bros. Comfy and Bros was like a religious experience for me. I can't explain the feeling but it was the best thing ever. Great show. In the past year, his live performance has vastly improved.
• 35 minutes! That seems short!
• Yeah that's like a Beatles show at the height of Beatlemania. Too bad they weren't allowed to jam longer like they did in the old days. Oh well.
• bowling for ballserama!
