I really want to learn how to...

continue the sentence. Maybe we can encourage each other/give good advice as where to start learning something. I really want to learn how to skateboard. I cannot explain why. Its this overwhelming feeling that this is something I need to do and that I would connect with. All I need is a skateboard and somewhere to do it. I know quite a few people that could teach me, I think. Its hard to find rural places to skateboard but I look around and think to myself "If I could skateboard, I could grind on that"

• I totally want to learn to skateboard too! My dad can skateboard. Maybe one day he'll teach me how. You really shoud ask one of your friends to show you some weekend. It'd be really chill and relaxing listening to music and cruising along. ALmost like surfing, but without the sharks, or salty waves.. or jelly fish. Or many things really. Anyway, moving on. I really want to learn how to play an instrument really well. I think it would be amazing to be able to cover songs on the guitar or play sweet melodies on the piano. I've got a keyboard so I guess I'm off to a good start, but I haven't learnt a song in a while. I use to play DCFC off tutorials on youtube. And to able to write music to the lyrics I write would be really amazing you know. I could actually think of making a personal album a possibility. That'd be cool.
• start writing songs, some of the greatest songs are super simple. look at just about any leonard cohen song -- they're all like 4 or 5 chords, played in just about the same way. dylan's a bit more complex since he's got more blues than cohen (who's more of a folkie) but not by much.
• I really want to learn how to longboard. and play the harmonica. I have a harmonica.
• Have you ever heard of thumb piano, otherwise known as mbira? They sound really pretty and ambient. Before I die I am gonna learn to play one of those. Longboarding sounds cool.
• I want to learn to play guitar really bad. And I find singing and playing an instrument really hard too, so I have to learn how to do that.
•
I want to learn to play guitar really bad. And I find singing and playing an instrument really hard too, so I have to learn how to do that.
I've felt that way for quite a while but if you take it one song at a time and just push through it, it definitely becomes easier. I think the piano is an easier instrument to sing with anyways. Also, the main thing that attracts me about skateboarding is listening to music and doing it. I think once I have a good amount of money put aside for the cause i'll buy myself a skateboard and see if a pal will teach me. Even if they won't I can just dick around in my driveway.
• i wanna learn how to play the sax
• I really want to want to learn how to play Keyboards, Bass, Guitar, drums, and Melodica Cause I want to make music, it seems to be a lot of fun.
•
I want to learn to play guitar really bad. And I find singing and playing an instrument really hard too, so I have to learn how to do that.
takes practice is all (although i have found that i can play guitar and sing, i can't play bass and sing unless i practice really hard on it)

• I remember learning how to dive. No I can't. I can't dive. I don't really want to learn how to dive though. I want to learn how to not come off as awkward to people.
• Diving is easy once you get the hang of it. Really, it is. I remember learning how to dive. Also, I find drumming and singing impossibly hard.
• I can't sing and play piano at the same time. I envy those who can. Drums + singing would be doubly hard I would imagine! What sort of drumming do you do Grizz? Do you cover any songs or do you drum Panda style!?

I think i've said that on here b efore though. Drums and singing is certainly ultimate. I saw some video of Jack White doing it with The Dead Weather at Bonnaroo and it was amazing. He's the best anyways so he was spot on. I have to try really really hard to sing and play the guitar though...the guitar really just doesn't make sense to me either. I've always wanted to learn how to drum.
• I do a lot of improv stuff when I'm just goofing around on my kit. When I'm trying to push myself to learn a new skill I will usually practice a certain part in a song or cover a song in general, and once in a while I practice sheet music. Panda's sporadic style is really really fun to play. Staying in time but playing different things around the kit is entertaining, like in Essplode.
• I'm learning how to play the harmonica. =3
• you guys, i'm really learning how to skateboard!
•
i wanna learn how to play the sax
I've always wanted to learn sax too. Seems pretty intimidating though, not to mention pricey. Besides that, i'd like to learn how to draw better. My own fault for never drawing when im sober.
• I'm so proud of y'all who are learning! as for me... ...astral travel and grow mushrooms.
•
astral travel
yes yes yes yes yes. I learned about it from a friend who used to be able to do it, naturally. At first he didn't know what it was and it freaked him out but he learned how to control it. I used to try it a lot but it never worked. And now he can't do it anymore, cause he's depressed
• I want to learn how to become a better lucid dreamer. To lucid dream every night would be the most amazing thing, but thats a big goal and would take ALOT of practise.
• or you could build a dream machine
•
or you could build a dream machine
omg, I can't believe I didn't check back to this thread. Thank you Yukbon. I've always found dream machines interesting (well, for the one time I head about the documentary on it - FLicKeR ??) I totally want to make one of these, or buy one or something, it would be amazing. Though, I'm not sure it quite helps with lucid dreaming, but rather creates colours and visual images in the views mind.. Still want one though!
• I'd actually like to learn how to use samplers and all that jazz, Person Pitch was so, so inspiring.

Still want one though!
if you check the links in the wikipedia article, there's a web-based one (protip: not for those prone to photosensitive epilepsy) which certainly seems easier than building one, if you just want to experiment to see if it's for you. (i personally don't like them, they make me uncomfortable -- in a bad way, not in a "i just need to expand my horizons" kind of way.)
•
I'd actually like to learn how to use samplers and all that jazz, Person Pitch was so, so inspiring.
look through your local craigslist and get a cheapo Akai MPC. Between that and reaper, you are set.
• Be interesting. Why the universe is Cosmic Torqouise. Be without hate. Be conscious now and forever.
• Learn how to play the drums quicker than at the rate that I'm learning.
• i like to play the drums. i think i'm getting good (but i can handle criticism!) I'll show you what I know and you can tell me if you think I'm getting better on the drums!
