that's incredibly interesting. I'm glad some good has come of it.

i'm entirely unsure if its a good thing to lose your concern or discomfort over those things though. I've officially left chatroulette (for now) due to my nondiscomfort towards seeing penises and gross imagery. I don't like being desensitized like that. Also, I stopped being annoyed by the people that wanted to see titties all the time. I guess it isn't nearly as extreme as 4chan, which I plan on staying far, far away from.

There are places for other things on 4chan too, though. Like /x/, which is the paranormal forum. Lots of creepy original stories and pictures and what not. Also, I urge you to check out the Marble Hornets (search it on youtube). It's a really good web series about this meme called Slender Man (google him if you wish), which is 100% fabricated but still really creepy and awesome. There's also forums for comic books, tv shows, music, pretty much everything. The only one I would stay away from is /b/, the random forum, if you want to keep your sanity. It's like I'm addicted to it now. I love it, I can't help it, because some of the threads can be really, really funny in their own twisted way. For example, yesterday somebody posted a topic on subtle racism, which said something along the lines of "When ever a black person is at my till, I punch in the wrong piece of fruit so they pay more than white people."
The only comments he got were how he was a loser because he worked at a grocery store.
I lol'd.

When I have some free time (later tonight) i'll check that out.

That story made me smile, it was pretty awesome, even though i'm not for racism at all. That would be something that I would like to apply to someone that I didn't like because of their attitude, not their skin color. A great subtle asshole idea.

I used to be super into webcomics but have fallen behind. As for forums, maybe some others would be worth checking out, but I never can really stick to one for long, besides this place.

It was really funny. Racism isn't cool at all, though. And I used to be really into cyanide and happiness but I stopped checking it. Now I'm more into the Oatmeal.

I got pretty desensitized to autopsy and crime scene photos and Faces of Death/snuff films when I was in my mid-to late teens. Then I got desensitized to really raw nasty sex stuff in my late teens/early twenties. I was worried that I had screwed my brain up, or my moral compass, or done some kind of irreversible damage: I mean, I was very seriously into looking at hardcore human depravity. Yes, it existed even way back when I was a kid. Back when there wasn't the internet, even! But the important stuff didn't get desensitized. I can look at a gnarly decapitation photo/video and not flinch but a real dead person on the street (or a dead dog) affects me. I worried that I would be numb forever, but I'm not.

I agree. Real death, seeing it in front of me, really bothers me, but I can watch .gif of somebody getting shot in the head and it doesn't really bother me all that much.

Now that I re-read it it kinda sounds messed up...
But it's true. I can't say that horror movies scare me anymore, but I can say that the fake stuff is pretty realistic...

I get grossed out even when I'm helping film a horror movie.
Even after watching the whole thing being set up, makeup, props etc.
Blood and gore still always freaks me out.
