I don't know a lot of the here-today-gone-tomorrow bands or the huge ones like Wet Noodle, I mean Limp Bizkit. Hip is very subjective. I think you're hip.

Sunset Rubdown is hands-down amazing, to my ears. Make up the breakdown was a pretty solid album (Hot Hot Heat). In that same vein is Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Rheostatics, all being Canadian. John Vanderslice, Dirty Projectors, Gang Gang Dance....Fleetwood Mac...

EDIT: And Television, if you're down for some awesome mid-70s punk. My favorite punk group along with Patti Smith. (Don't let punk turn you off, it's not very much like the abrasive Ramones-styled stuff that is modern punk).
